Yard Waste Collection
(Important Updates)

Effective April 1, 2008, City of Onalaska residents can no longer use clear bags for yard waste pick. *ALL residents will be required to use paper yard bags for yard waste collection, OR residents may put yard waste loosely into a garbage can with a yard waste sticker clearly marking the can as yard waste.

YARD WASTE - April through November (grass clippings, leaves, hedge trimmings, garden waste, and twigs (branches shorter than 24” and less than ¾” thick): must be placed in a paper yard waste bag or loosely in a garbage can with a yard waste sticker on it. When using can for yard waste turn can so sticker faces street or alley. When using can for garbage turn so sticker is facing away from street or alley. DO NOT MIX GARBAGE AND YARD WASTE! If mixed your can will NOT be pick up.

BRANCHES - April through November (less than 4 feet long, and no thicker than 6 inches): are picked up the 2nd week of each month only. Branches must be tied in bundles and you can leave 2 piles up to 3 feet high. You must call City Hall the Friday before pick up week to be put on a list.

LEAF VACUMMING - October through November - Loose leaves are collected one (1) time per week, beginning on Mondays.
