GENERAL INFORMATION

Non Resident Policy:  A resident is anyone who lives within the corporate boundaries of the City of Onalaska.  Due to the fact that the boundaries of the City and School District are different, any person residing outside the City boundaries will be considered a non-resident and will be assessed a fee accordingly.

Insurance: The Parks and Rec Department does not provide accident or hospital insurance for individuals participating in sponsored activities.  It is recommended that all participants obtain or review their personal insurance policies (medical, accident and liability.)

Refund Policy: Refunds will be granted if requests are made seven (7) days prior to the scheduled start of the activity.  After an activity has started, refunds will be granted only for medical or unavoidable circumstances.  $5.00 service charge for processing all refunds.

Say Cheese: For program promotional purposes, photographs may be taken of participants.  If you do not wish to have your photo taken, please tell the photographer.

Cancellation Information: Cancellation announcements will be placed on our Facebook page and our hotline 791-0833 approximately one (1) hour prior to the start of a program.  In the event severe weather develops immediately prior to the program, the supervisor will make the determination to cancel.  The department recognizes that severe weather situations vary, therefore parents are encouraged to use their own discretion with sending children to programs.  If the schools close early and the program is held at the school, the program will be cancelled as well.

Age Requirements: Please do not request to have your child put in a class in which he/she does not belong. All age requirements are set to benefit the children, make instruction more consistent for the leader, and for safety reasons.

You Snooze….You Lose: Nothing kills a program quicker than waiting until the last minute to sign up. If there are not enough participants by the deadline, it will be cancelled.

Typo, We Goofed: Occasionally there may be an error with information in the Activity Guide.  If so, the staff will do everything possible to correct the situation promptly.

Returned Checks: A $30.00 service charge will be assessed on all checks returned due to insufficient funds.  Once a NSF check occurs, all future registrations must be cash only.

Non-Discrimination: The Parks and Rec Department does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age or physical statues in employment.

Recreation Scholarship Program: The Parks and Rec Department has a scholarship program in place for City residents.  Stop by the office for the paperwork, which needs to be turned into the Director prior to registering for an activity.  Please allow one week for processing.
